The CRM-CNRS welcomes Pierre Baumann for a long stay
Starting November 1, 2024, and for seven months, the CRM-CNRS welcomes Pierre Baumann
Pierre BAUMANN
Researcher, CNRS
11/01/2024 – 06/30/2025
Pierre Baumann is a CNRS researcher at the Institute for Advanced Mathematical Research in Strasbourg. His work focuses on representations of Lie groups and algebras, at the intersection of algebra, combinatorics, and geometry. In his mathematical garden one can find various species of preprojective algebras, affine Grassmannian varieties, affine root systems, crystal polytopes and paths, cluster structures, and the ever-challenging perverse sheaves. His stay at the CRM will allow him to pursue long-standing collaborations with colleagues at LACIM (UQAM).
Pierre Baumann has also been involved in various outreach activities at the local level. According to him, one of his misfortunes is that his most widely read mathematical text is a set of lecture notes on the history of the discipline for undergraduate students, while (in his view) other more personal works are equally deserving of attention.
